Can some one plz explain the solution for this question?

prob A hit target = 2/3
prob A will never hit target = 1- (2/3) = 1/3

prob B hit = 4/7
prob B will never hit = 1 - (4/7) = 3/7

prob that neither of them will hit = P(A)' * P(B)'

= 1/3 * 3/7 ===>1/7

now let us discuss this in other way

col A x+y+z
col b (1/x)+y+z

now subtract y+z on both sides

col A x
col B (1/x)

let x=-1 col a = col b
let x=-2 col a < colb
let x=-(1/2) col a > col b

hence the solution is undetermined

D is the correct answer....i hope

the height of pool = 4 feet

the water is filled up to 3 feet 6 inches that means height of water = 3.5 feet

now diameter = 20 feet
then radius = 20 / 2 = 10 feet

volume of cylinder = ( pi * r^2 * h )

= pi * 10 * 10 * 3.5
=100*3.5*pi

==350 pi

defined ak = (1/k) - ( 1/(k+1))

let k=1 then a1 = ( 1 - ( 1/2)) = 1/2

let k=2 then a2 = ( (1/2) - ( 1/(3) )

then a1+a2= 1/2 + 1/2 - 1/3 ====> 1 - 1/3

similarly if u find the sum with next term the answer will be 1 - 1/4

this is of the form a1+a2+....an = 1- 1/(n+1)

here it is asked to find sum of a2+a3+....+a100

now lets find the sum from a1 to a100 then subtract the value of a1 so that we can calculate the sum of a2 to a100 series

a1+....+a100 = 1 - 1/101

=> (101-1) / 101

=> 100/101

a2+....a100 = 100/101 - (1/2 ) ( 1/2 is the value of a1 which v hav found already)

=> (200-101)/(202)

===>99/202

for the first ques if u select b=1 , then both sides become equal.
Also in case of a=-1/2, c=1/2, b= 1/4, B is greater.
So, the answer should be D.

Answer for 4th questions is as follows....

There are 5 pairs of socks.
That is, there are 10 single socks.
We are selecting two socks from 10 socks.
It can be done in 10C2 ways.
Condition is Selecting two single socks of same color.
That is to select a pairs from 5 pairs.
It can be done in 5C1 ways.
Probability of selecting two socks of same color = 5C1/10C2

= 5/(10 x 9/2)
= 1/9
