Our customer surveys show that parents are now more worried about youthful violence and are concerned about better education for their children. Therefore, to maintain profits we should discontinue all our action toys and focus exclusively on a new line of educational toys. Several other toy companies have already begun marketing educational toys and report sales increases last yearof 200 percent. And since the average family income is growing, sales of new Hyper-Go toys should also increase."

hello

I was browsing your site, and to be honest, had trouble following the format. Im not sure how to get to the answers. Please explain it to me, an in return, is a BRAND NEW set of questions :)

Anyways, I have some gre vocab for you. Lets just say its VERY new...I didnt remember the alternatives, sorry

SALLOW:
 to shrink
-?
?
?
to burst forth

CALLOW:
Mature
Cowardly
?
?
?

DEMURRAL:

?
?
acquiescence

-The first essay question went like this:
Leaders in politics, technology, and sports have climbed to the top of the ladder through competition, but they say that all young people ought to learn to cooperate if they want to succeed in this society.

Now, I TOOK it to mean, what do you think young people need to show more of today to succeed, competition or cooperation?

-The second, which was the pick apart an argument question, had to do with a chemical in the aspirin family that has been found in preservatives. A study was done showing that this chemical helps lowe rthe rate of headaches over time. They then say that more of this chemical will lead to less headaches. What do you think about this argument?

Here is a geometry q:

All I ask for is a clear explanation of how to browse your site, and any tips on how to keep up to date. Im taking the test again soon, and ned moar updated questions.

Question is not very clear to me. But, you can divide the quadrilateral into 2 triangles and one rectangle in order to calculate the base of two triangles, which along with the base of rectangle, will give the fourth side of figure.

5. A Triangle was given with sides 5 ,6 and 8. Angle opposite to side 5 is 'x' and angle opposite to side 6 is 'y'.

By the way, how did you get the answer C for Number 3?

I was thinking:

Factors of PQR will give 3 numbers itself (i.e. P, Q R). According to question, next two numbers are PQR and 1. So, I added them up (3+1+1 = 5). Hence 5<8.

I would love to know how you got C.

Different minds work differently. Very interesting.

The number of factors is based on the prime factorization.

For instance, if x = p^n, where p is prime, then it has n+1 factors.

If x = p^n * q^m, where p and q are prime, then it has
(n + 1)(m + 1) factors

We can continue as far as we need.

36 = 2^2*3^2, so it has (2 + 1)(2 + 1) = 3*3 = 9 factors.

(To check:1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12 18, 36)

Minds work differently but logic remains same

Thats great. I appreciated it. I just registered for the test and I am taking on Feb 23. I couldn't get earlier date.

Just wondering if you want to discuss/share the stuff on yahoo messenger (as I see that you have yahoo msn on your profile) sometimes. I have one PDF file which I received from my friend. It may be be useful for you to prepare for verbal part. Another note- you should go through the BigBook RC. Guess what? I appeared for GRE last month and I couldn't do well as I was sick. Last night, I was going through the BigBook. To my greatest surprise, all RC were from the big book. So Yeah, do have a glance at them when you get a chance.

Its been snowing since last night..all classes got canceled today, and I guess good time to work on GRE inside the room. More GRE..More GRE....oh yeah!

ARGUMENT TOPIC:

1.At present, Mason City residents seldom use the nearby Mason River for any kind of recreational activity, even though surveys of the region's residents consistently rank water sports (swimming, fishing, and boating) as a favorite form of recreation. Since there have been complaints about the quality of the water in the river, residents must be avoiding the river because they think that it is not clean enough. But that situation is about to change: the agency responsible for rivers in our region has announced plans to clean up Mason River. Therefore, recreational use of the river is likely to increase, so the Mason City council will need to increase its budget for improvements to the publicly owned lands along the Mason River.

2.Your recent article on corporate downsizing* in the United States is misleading. The article gives the mistaken impression that many competent workers who lost jobs as a result of downsizing face serious economic hardship, often for years, before finding other suitable employment. But this impression is contradicted by a recent report on the United States economy, which found that since 1992 far more jobs have been created than have been eliminated. The report also demonstrates that many of those who lost their jobs have found new employment. Two-thirds of the newly created jobs have been in industries that tend to pay
above-average wages, and the vast majority of these jobs are full-time."

Hi,

I am appearing GRE on 4th March. Is it so that the questions will be completely new for me? Is there any chance of me getting questions from the February database?

And, how did you solve Problem # 9 of February 5th Quantitative Section?
It looks ambiguous.

From second Equation..... u got 3 values -6, -8, 0... for 'x'.... ok they are correct...
But -8, 0 cannot satisfy 1st equation...
so.. only x= -6 satisfies both the equations.... check it..
Hence x = -6
So.. Col B is greater..& B is the answer.

I don't think its answer is A, the side opposite to angle Q is PR whose length is 13 and for angle Q to be greater then 90 (obtuse angle) the following identity should be true:
13^2 > 12^2 + 7^2

What do you say ?

A.3.8

C 3.6

36 = 2^2*3^2, so it has (2 + 1)(2 + 1) = 3*3 = 9 factors.

It looks ambiguous.

from the given equations we find that x can be -6 , -8 or 0 . which means

x^2 = 36; x(x+6)(x+8 ) = 0;
Col A: x

Sol: Given two equations..... the value of x should be such that it should satisfy both equations....
